Murshida Mariam Baker

Murshida Mariam Baker's work is imbued with passion and devotion. She has studied and traveled extensively in Turkey and other parts of the world. She is also a mother of five children, a treasure hunter for tools of personal and planetary growth and healing, Initiate in the Inayati Chistia lineage of Sufism through Hazrat Inayat Khan and Murshid Samuel Lewis, she was student and friend of the late Moineddin Jablonski, receiving his transmission to continue Soulwork, a marriage of psychological and spiritual tools which opens pathways to the integration of being. She is an active member of Sufi Ruhaniat International and a leader in the Dances of Universal Peace since 1974.

She has served as a specialist in women's and religious studies, presenting lectures and workshops throughout the United States and Canada . She is the former director of Theater of Healing and author of Women as Divine, Tales of the Goddess, one of the first books illuminating the divine feminine. Specialist in embodied spirituality, she is known as a spiritual midwife. She functions as a senior teacher and center leader of the Mevlevi Order of America , facilitating classes in the work of Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi, including whirling.
