Jon Seskevich and Mark Smith | Universal Chanting. Chanting, or repetitive song, is part of almost every spiritual tradition. Also known as kirtan, bhajan, and “singing with heart,” chanting is a form of bhakti or devotional yoga. These chants, coming from many traditions, contain a transformative power and healing energy. Through our voices we join a stream of consciousness, emotion, and devotion that has been flowing for centuries, sharing the joy of making inspirational music together. |

The Way of Renewal: Healing Pathways of the Heart This public workshop will select healing resources from the rich treasure of the "pathways of the heart" found in the Sufi practice of the 99 Beautiful Names. For several decades, Saadi has specialized in adapting ancient Sufi practices to the everyday challenges of modern life, and in 2005 produced a new translation of these practices in The Sufi Book of Life. The focus for this workshop will be on the many pathways that deal with strength, renewal, releasing, trust, being at home in the body, and increasing clarity in relationship with one's inner healing guidance. As resources we will use chant, heart meditation, walking meditation, body prayer, whirling and other forms of sacred movement and body awareness. The retreat aims to guide participants through a process that promotes freedom, growth and joy along with better understanding of oneself and others. Contact: Lucy Oliver, 1-828-225-0515 |
